How to Tie Your TaniJay One Piece
How to tie your
TaniJay one piece.
One method. Works for the Hebe, Hemera, Hanet, Halo, Halle, Mini Halle, and nearly every other TaniJay one piece. Learn it once and you have got them all.
The wrapping, crossing, and knotting technique below is the foundation of the TaniJay one piece. The only thing that changes between designs is where the fringe sits and how it falls. Everything else is the same. Take your time with it. The difference between a good photo and a great one is almost always in how much care went into the tie.
Step by step.
Do not rush it.
Start with the neck strings
Tie them loosely first, just enough to hold the piece at your preferred height. You will adjust these again at the end.
Set your front coverage
Before doing anything else, make sure the front securely covers your chest and crotch completely. Do not move to the next step until this is right. Everything else depends on it.
Bring the lower straps through
Take the thick straps at the crotch and bring them between your legs. Wrap them around your hips toward the front.
Create the waist wrap
Continue wrapping the straps upward around your torso. When this step is done correctly, the straps will naturally form a clean X shape across your tummy. If the X is not there or it looks messy, unwrap and redo this step.
Tie front or back
Tie the remaining strings in the front or the back depending on the look you want. Both work. Neither is wrong.
Adjust until it feels right
Now go back and adjust everything. Tighten or loosen the neck strings, adjust the bust, settle the hips. The piece is designed to mold to your body so take the time to get it sitting exactly right before you move on.
The X is the tell.
A clean X across the tummy is how you know the piece is tied correctly. If the X is missing, twisted, or uneven, the piece is not sitting right and it will show in photos. Untie, start from step three, and redo it. It takes two minutes and makes every difference.

This step is
not optional.
It is the finish.
Shake it out gently
When your piece first comes out of packaging the fringe will be compressed and scrunched from being folded. That is completely normal. Before you do anything else, give it a gentle shake to let it start to loosen and fall.
Finger-comb the fringe
Once the piece is tied, run your fingers through the fringe front and back to neaten it. You are not separating every strand individually, you are smoothing it out and giving it a less wild, more intentional look after being packaged.
Let it fall naturally
Give it one final light shake so the fringe settles into a natural, even drape. It should look effortless, not overdone. Then leave it alone.
Neatened fringe is the difference between wearing it and wearing it right.
The fringe comes out of packaging compressed. A quick finger comb through the front and back is all it takes to go from scrunched to stunning. TaniJay will be including a wide tooth comb in every order very soon so your fringe is taken care of from the moment your piece arrives.
The metal ring.
Every TaniJay one piece ships with a complimentary metal ring. The ring is not part of the original design. It is a removable styling addition that creates a completely different look with the same piece. You do not have to use it. But if you want to, here is how it works.
The piece looks incredible both ways. The ring is just another option in your hands.

Part 2: Styling with the metal ring
How to style Hebe with the removable metal ring: Starting from the standard Hebe tie shown in Part One, fold both long straps and pull them through the removable metal ring. Smooth any twists so the straps lie flat. Pull the straps in opposite directions to form an open V instead of the standard X, wrap each strap upward around the torso, and tie them at the front or back. Adjust the fit and finger-comb the fringe.
