Crochet Care

We want your crochet pieces to look fab and last for years. Here are some simple steps to keep them in tip-top shape—treat them with love, and they’ll keep you looking amazing for years to come!

Machine Washing Your Crochet Item

Follow these easy steps to keep your crochet pieces looking their best after a machine wash.

  1. Load Your Washer: Wash your crochet item with similarly colored pieces, or on its own for added precaution. Acrylic yarn won’t bleed, but it’s always safest to keep shades together.
  2. Use the TJC Mesh Laundry Bag: Pop your crochet piece into the mesh bag we provided and zip it up. This helps protect it from snags and keeps it safe during the wash.
  3. Choose Your Wash Settings: Cold water is your friend here! The delicate cycle is ideal, but your crochet won’t be harmed by other settings either—no worries!
  4. After Washing: When the wash is done, remove your crochet from the mesh bag if you’re air drying flat. If you're using the dryer, just toss it in with the bag to the next step.

Machine Drying Your Crochet Item

For those who need a faster drying method, follow these steps:

  1. Set the Dryer: Use low heat when machine drying (the mesh bag is recommended but not required). Acrylic yarn holds up well in the dryer, but high heat can warp it—low to medium heat is perfect.
  2. Fuzzies? No Problem! If your crochet piece gets some fuzz after drying, don’t worry! Fuzzies are completely natural, especially with daily wear or after washing and drying. Simply grab some scissors or a lint shaver to smooth them out and keep your piece looking fresh. If, after washing, you're unsatisfied with your item or the fuzzies persist, reach out to us directly. We’re happy to guide you through the process of removing them, or, at the best, we’ll provide a replacement if necessary. Your satisfaction is our priority!

Air Drying (If You’re Not in a Rush)

Lay your crochet flat on a towel or hang it in a well-ventilated area to dry naturally. It works wonders!

Hand Washing Your Crochet Item

Hand washing is a great option for those who prefer a gentler approach.

  1. Cool Water, Please! Fill a sink, basin, or tub with cool water and add mild detergent. Avoid hot water or harsh chemicals like bleach—your crochet deserves better than that!
  2. Gently Clean: Let your crochet soak for 15–30 minutes. Gently rub the soapy water into the yarn with your fingers, focusing on spots that need extra attention.
  3. Rinse & Repeat: Rinse with cool water until the soap is gone. Don’t twist or wring out—simply press out the excess water gently.
  4. Dry It Right: Lay your crochet flat on a towel and roll it up to absorb moisture, then lay it flat to finish drying. You can also hang it if you prefer.

Storing Your Crochet Item

Keep your crochet pieces safe and dust-free with these simple tips:

  1. Use Your TJC Zipper Bag: Once your crochet piece is fully dry, store it in the frosted zipper bag we provided to keep it fresh and ready to wear.
  2. Keep It Dry: Ensure your crochet is completely dry before storing. Avoid dark, damp spaces to keep your crochet in perfect condition while storing.
