Quick Care Tips

Washing

Cold water, delicate cycle. Use your TJC mesh laundry bag for best results.

Drying

Low heat in the dryer, or lay flat to air dry on a towel in a ventilated area.

Storing

Store fully dry in your TJC frosted zipper bag. Keep away from damp spaces.

Method 1

Machine Washing

Follow these easy steps to keep your crochet pieces looking their best after a machine wash.

  1. Load Your Washer: Wash your crochet item with similarly colored pieces, or on its own for added precaution. Acrylic yarn won't bleed, but it's always safest to keep shades together.
  2. Use the TJC Mesh Laundry Bag: Pop your crochet piece into the mesh bag we provided and zip it up. This helps protect it from snags and keeps it safe during the wash.
  3. Choose Your Wash Settings: Cold water is your friend here. The delicate cycle is ideal, but your crochet won't be harmed by other settings either.
  4. After Washing: Remove your crochet from the mesh bag if you're air drying flat. If using the dryer, toss it in with the bag and move to the next step.
Method 2

Machine Drying

For a faster drying method, follow these steps.

  1. Set the Dryer: Use low heat when machine drying. The mesh bag is recommended but not required. Acrylic yarn holds up well in the dryer, but high heat can warp it - low to medium heat is perfect.
  2. Fuzzies? No Problem! If your piece gets some fuzz after drying, don't worry - fuzzies are completely natural, especially with daily wear or after washing. Use scissors or a lint shaver to smooth them out. If you're still unsatisfied, reach out to us directly and we'll guide you through it or provide a replacement if necessary.
Method 3

Air Drying

Lay your crochet flat on a towel or hang it in a well-ventilated area to dry naturally. This is the gentlest method and works wonders for maintaining the shape of your piece long-term.

Method 4

Hand Washing

Hand washing is a great option for those who prefer a gentler approach.

  1. Cool Water, Please! Fill a sink, basin, or tub with cool water and add mild detergent. Avoid hot water or harsh chemicals like bleach.
  2. Gently Clean: Let your crochet soak for 15–30 minutes. Gently rub the soapy water into the yarn with your fingers, focusing on spots that need extra attention.
  3. Rinse & Repeat: Rinse with cool water until the soap is gone. Don't twist or wring - simply press out the excess water gently.
  4. Dry It Right: Lay your crochet flat on a towel and roll it up to absorb moisture, then lay it flat to finish drying. You can also hang it if you prefer.
Storage

Storing Your Piece

  1. Use Your TJC Zipper Bag: Once your crochet piece is fully dry, store it in the frosted zipper bag we provided to keep it fresh and ready to wear.
  2. Keep It Dry: Ensure your crochet is completely dry before storing. Avoid dark, damp spaces to keep your piece in perfect condition.
